Media Communications

Do you have a story to tell?

Media communications professionals may report the news, direct a film or produce a record, but their common thread is knowing how to create and distribute important messages to various audiences.

Grossmont College’s Media Communications (MCOM) department prepares students for success in the fields of audio/video production and journalism. Students receive hands-on training for radio, television, commercial video, film and documentary careers. Storytelling, writing, producing, videography, editing and broadcast performance are included in this broad-based curriculum.

As a student in MCOM, you will gain technical and aesthetic skills as you learn to communicate through audio, video, print, the internet and social media. Our curriculum prepares you to manage fast-paced technological changes and market yourself to prospective employers.

Audio Production Emphasis: Learn to record, edit, mix and master audio to get it ready for public release. Choose to focus on Radio Production or Multi-Track Production.

Cross-Media Journalism Emphasis: Prepare for a career as a journalist by learning to produce news for publication across multiple platforms.

Video Production Emphasis: Learn the process of creating a film, from pre-production through post-production.
