Sociology

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

As a scientific and academic subject, sociology studies the social causes and consequences of human behaviors. A degree in sociology is an excellent springboard for entering the world of government, business, industry, and nongovernmental and not-for-profit organizations. The sociological perspective is crucial for working in today's multiethnic and multinational work environments. A sociological perspective provides valuable insights into social factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, education, religion, and social class that affect work and how organizations operate.

The Associate of Arts for Transfer (AAT) Degree in Sociology can be attained without buying textbooks. For more information about ZTC (Zero Textbook Cost), visit the ZTC Webpage or Search for Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) sections in the class schedule, by selecting ZTC under "Course Type."

ZTC applies to specific sections, and not necessarily all sections of a course in an academic plan.

We offer a local Associate of Arts (AA) degree, and an Associate of Arts for Transfer Degree in Sociology. These degrees can be earned in 4 semesters if you are a full-time student and prepare you for transfer to a four-year institution.
