Zoom
GCCCD makes use of Zoom software for academic as well as other purposes. Read on to learn how to obtain a Zoom account (if one is needed). You may also find resources and references, troubleshooting tips, and more.
Zoom Accounts
Students do not require an account to use Zoom. For Faculty and Staff, the district does not automatically provision Zoom accounts. Zoom accounts are created by request, and do not utilize Single Sign-On.
Please reach out to the District IT Help Desk if you need a Zoom account created, or are unable to access your current one. You may email District IT (helpdesk@gcccd.edu) or phone District IT at (619) 644-7547.
Zoom User Support
The Help Desks can not offer training or support on the use of Zoom for academic purposes. If you are a student, faculty, or staff member the following resources may be of help:

Updating Zoom Software
Generally, Zoom will automatically update itself. If you receive an error message, or it is not updating or functioning properly, please follow the steps below to remove and reinstall Zoom.
Uninstall Zoom on Windows
If you need to remove and reinstall Zoom, please:
- Open the Start menu and begin typing Add or remove programs. Click on the gear icon when it comes up.
- In the Installed apps window, scroll down to Zoom Workplace (it may also read simply Zoom, or Zoom Business).
- For the Zoom entry, find the ... icon on the right-hand side. Select it, and choose Uninstall.
*Note: You will need to be an Administrator or know the Administrator password for the device you're using. Please contact the Help Desk if this is your Office computer.
Uninstall Zoom on Apple/MacOS
If you need to remove and reinstall Zoom from a MacOS computer:
- Open the Zoom desktop application.
- On the top of your screen, next to the Apple menu, select Zoom Workplace (or zoom.us) to open the application menu.
- Select Uninstall Zoom (or Zoom.us, or Zoom Workplace).
- Choose OK when asked Do you want to uninstall this app.

Download and Install Zoom
After removing Zoom by following the instructions above:
- Visit the Zoom Download page and download the Zoom Workplace for Windows or Apple (depending on your device).
- Open/run the downloaded file to start the install of the newest version of Zoom.
