Admissions and Records Petitions

All petitions must be submitted by the end of business hours on Tuesday to be reviewed on Wednesday by the petitions committee. The results will be available the following Monday. 

 

All required documentation is required at the time of submission. Any form request missing documentation will be denied.

Academic Renewal

This petition is used to request the exclusion or prior substandard coursework from a student's grade point average, which is not reflective of their current demonstrated ability.

 

In compliance with Title V Regulations, a student's petition for academic renewal of substandard academic performance will be considered under the following conditions:

 

  • At least one year has elapsed and the student has completed, at any accredited post-secondary institution
  • Students must have achieved at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) in 12 semester units or a 2.0 GPA in 18 semester units in the semesters after the term being requested to Academically Renew.  Semesters prior to the requested ones will not be taken into consideration in units and GPA requirements.
  • All courses taken during the semester/session in which the student reaches or exceeds the 12 or 18 semester unit minimum will be used in computing the GPA.
  • Units completed with "P" (Pass) grades will not count toward fulfillment of this requirement.
  • Academic renewal cannot be used to set aside coursework that has been used to meet degree, certificate, or certification requirements. 
  • Prior Academic Renewals from Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District and other institutions will be considered when determining eligibility.
  • Official transcripts from any institution that the student has attended must be file before petition submission.

California Promise Grant Petition (formerly known as BOGW)

Students who have been on two consecutive semesters of academic probation, progress probation, or a combination of the two, will lose their CCPG fee waiver eligibility.  Submit this form and supporting documentation to appeal the loss of CCPG fee waiver based on an extenuating circumstance or significant academic improvement

This form is used for Course Repetition, Late Graduation Request, Request to Walk, and other evaluation inquiries. Please read below for more details.

 

Course Repetition:

Used to request the exclusion of substandard coursework from a student's grade point average that has been repeated at another institution 

 

Official transcripts must be on file.

 
Late Graduation Request:

 

Used after the deadline to apply for graduation has passed. 

 

Graduation Request card must be submitted. Possible official transcripts and test scores. 

 

Other Request:

Used for other evaluations or graduation requests.

General Petition (Course Repetition, Late Withdrawal, No Show, Course Repeat, Other)

This petition is used for Course Repeat, Late Withdrawal, Grossmont College Promise Grant (AB 19 / AB 2), and other admissions or records requests. 

 

Course Repeat 

To repeat a course in which a grade of "C" or higher was earned or a course in which three substandard enrollments (D, F, NP, W) were earned. The student must demonstrate the necessity to retake a course in excess of the allowable limit of repeats. 

 

Late Withdrawal

To withdraw from a course after the drop deadline and must include relevant supporting documentation.

 

  • Excused Withdrawal includes an "EW" and no refund for extenuating circumstances that impacted the student's ability to complete the course, including medical. Must include documentation
  • Late Withdrawal includes a "W" and no refund. Intended for students who attempted the course and had extenuating circumstances that prevented them from dropping on time. 
  • Late Withdrawal with Refund or No Show includes no notation and a refund. Must include verification of attendance/participation from the instructor or department chair.
  • Military withdrawals shall be authorized when a student who is a member of an active or reserve United States military service receives orders compelling a withdrawal from courses. Military withdrawals shall not be counted in progress alert and dismissal calculations. No refunds will be given for military withdrawals. 

 

Grossmont College Promise Grant AB19/AB2 

To petition for eligibility for the Grossmont College Promise Grant, known as AB19 and AB2.  

 

In addition to completing this petition, students must attach proof of missing documentation, such as FAFSA.

 

If a student lost eligibility due to not meeting the 12-unit or minimum 2.0 GPA requirement, please provide a detailed statement explaining the extenuating circumstances endured that led to ineligibility.  

 

Other Request

This form is used in the case in which a student has a special request that is not covered in other petitions. 

 

Any relevant documentation that supports the student's request must be attached. 

 

The petitions committee will review each request and decide if any action can be taken.  

 

General Petition

International Student Petition

Petition used for international students to request a reduction in course load, an extension for the I-20, or other matters. 

 

Any relevant documentation that supports the student's request must be attached. 

 

International students may request a reduction in course load due to difficulties, medical reasons, or last semester.

Late Add Due to Extenuating Circumstances Petition

To add a course after the add deadline has passed due to extenuating circumstances. The student must have been present prior to the section census date.

 

An instructor statement indicating their support to add the student and first day attendance. If applicable, documentation of the student’s hardship in adding courses.

Readmission Petition

This form is used by students who, after having been academically disqualified from the college, wish to re-enroll with Grossmont 

 

In addition to completing this form, students are encouraged to attend a Back on Track Workshop or meet with a counselor to create an educational plan. In the statement, students must describe the circumstances surrounding the dismissal and the plan for their educational improvement.

This form is used in the case that a student wishes to appeal a denied decision.
