Borrowing From Other Libraries
Grossmont students, faculty, and staff may request items outside of the Grossmont Library collections using Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This service is free of charge.
Overview
Use the Interlibrary Loan Form to request articles or books that our library does not have access to.
Article Requests
Before submitting a request:
- Check OneSearch for the article before submitting a request.
- Search Google Scholar for the article.
If you still cannot find the article:
- Submit the Interlibrary Loan request.
- Articles can take anywhere from 1-7 days to arrive via email.
Book Requests
Before submitting a request:
- Check OneSearch for the book before submitting a request.
- Check Cuyamaca Library OneSearch prior to submitting a request.
- Requests from Cuyamaca usually take 1-2 days to be delivered, faster than coming from other libraries.
- Do not use Cuyamaca's Interlibrary Loan request form.
If you still cannot find the book:
- Submit the Interlibrary Loan request.
- Requested books can take anywhere between 2-14 days to arrive to the Grossmont College Library and will be placed on a hold shelf for pick up.
- Book pick-ups are done at the library front desk during open hours.
What is the loan period?
- The Library honors the loan period and renewal options designated by the lending library, generally for one month at a time.
- Request renewals by replying to your courtesy notice. Renewals are not guaranteed.
What fines/fees can incur when using ILL?
- The Library honors late return fees, lost replacement charges and/or damaged charges designated by the lending library. Charges will be added to your library account.
