API Exhibition: Aloha Vaqueros
The San Diego History Center invites you to experience Aloha Vaqueros, a gathering
to celebrate the stories, spirite, and aloth of the Hawaiian cowboy. Now open for
the month of April.
Celebrate the rich, cross-cultural cowboy traditions rooted in the vaquero heritage
that helped shape Hawai‘i’s paniolos and connected them to the vaqueros of Baja and
Alta California. Come honor the history, heritage, and shared spirit of two cultures—brought
to life through this powerful exhibition of storytelling, artifacts, and connection.
Closing reception is on May 1, 2025 from 6:00-9:00 pm. at the San Diego History Center at Balboa Park.
General admission is $10. Space is limited.

South Korean author Han Kang, Nobel Prize recipient for Literature
Celebrate Women's History Month!
We congratulate and honor South Korean author, Han Kang, recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
In her novel, We Do Not Part, "Han Kang confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life" and
"has a unique awareness of the connection between body and soul, the living and the
dead, and in her poetic and experimental style has become an innovator in contemporary
prose."
Six prizes are awarded each year for "achievements that have conferred the greatest
benefit to humankind."

Kimono Expo

The popular kimono exhibition, which attracts hundreds of visitors each time, will
be held for the 7th year! Popular kimono shops will come from Kyoto, Japan. You can
enjoy hundreds of products at each venue, including kimonos, yukata, haori, jinbei,
samue, children's yukata and Japanese goods.
