The Professional Learning Center @ The Nest

 

Grossmont College is excited to be opening our very own Professional Learning Center at The Nest.

 

The Nest is located in building 55, room 102.

 

The Nest will be a welcoming, collaborative space where employees can learn, connect, innovate, and recharge while advancing student success and institutional goals.

 

The Nest can be used for:

  • Professional development workshops  
  • Department meetings  
  • Faculty collaboration  
  • Individual work and reflection  
  • Communities of practice  
  • New employee onboarding  
  • Instructional innovation  
  • Resource library  
  • Consultation space

The Nest has three rooms available to be reserved:

  • Work Room #1 (max capacity 6) -The room comes equipped with a table, six chairs, and two whiteboards (dry erase markers/eraser provided). It can be used for small group work, as a workspace for faculty collaboration, instructional innovation, a small department meeting, consultation space, etc.
  • Work Room #2 (max capacity 6) - The room comes equipped with a table, six chairs, and two whiteboards (dry erase markers/eraser provided). It can be used for small group work, as a workspace for faculty collaboration, instructional innovation, a small department meeting, consultation space, etc.
  • Main Meeting Space (max capacity 50) - This meeting space comes equipped with tables, chairs, couches, whiteboards (dry erase markers/eraser provided), smart TV screens, and microphones. It can be used to hold professional development workshops, department meetings, communities of practice, etc.

You can also drop by to use as a working space if nothing else is scheduled at the time.

 

It is the only place on campus where students are not allowed, so no in-person office hours.

The Virtual Professional Learning Center 

The Virtual Professional Learning Center - formerly our Virtual Grossmont Learning Center (VGLC) - was built to be a one-stop shop for a variety of professional development resources that can be accessed off-campus and at any time. Think of it as our online version of our Professional Learning Center at The Nest. The Virtual Professional Learning Center is open to all employees, and we hope you'll utilize its resources no matter your role on campus. In the Virtual Professional Learning Center, you will have access to: 

  • Resources by Topic 
  • Event & Program Archives 
  • Links to other canvas courses with important resources (e.g. GC Canvas Resources canvas shell) 
  • Information on Professional Development opportunities outside of our district

In order to access the Virtual Professional Learning Center, you’ll need to have a Canvas account.  

 

All employees automatically have a Canvas account. If you need help recovering your account, please contact grossmont.canvas@gcccd.edu. Your Canvas account login credentials are the same as those you use for Self-Service. This is normally your legal firstname.lastname as your username, and your eight-digit birthdate as the password (e.g. 01121980).
